Not Today
Why does it have to be today?
Why not tomorrow or the day after?
Why does it have to be today?
I prayed for a morsel of solace, not a blast of merriment, “she” thought I was after…
She stood right behind me
Her stench made me want to retch, and her wings were eerily grotesque!
Why did it have to be my turn, why me?
I have to send my last letter of love, I only wished for a paper and pencil to sketch…
“Speak your last words now, for this earth shall witness your end today”
By sheer luck of gold, I was blessed with a paper and pencil –
I sketched gathering all my wits for I couldn’t afford to be an imbecile!
I chose two words to chase her away, my last words were –‘not today, not today…’
